Barneys Apologetics is a diverse group of Christians who meet once a month on a Sunday afternoon to discuss particular topics and books that deal with contemporary issues in Christian evangelism and apologetics. On any given meeting, this could range from topics that deal with: the compatibility of science and Christianity, the existence of evil and suffering, the reliability of the bible, the nature of faith, or the rise of secularism - just to name a few. The objective of the group is to get out of our comfort zone and start seeing these arguments from a different perspective. The meetings are intended to be highly interactive and practical, leaning on particular expertise within the church and wider Christian community.
Due to the nature of the group, we expect regular participants to: (a) hold a biblical-worldview centred on the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, (b) be prepared to have their views respectfully challenged based on open dialogue, discussion and debate, and (c) have a love for learning with a commitment to read as widely as they can to form well-rounded views supported by scripture. This does not mean that only Christians can participate in the group. Indeed, we hope that many non-Christians and sceptics will feel the desire to participate and share their opinions and objections. We only ask that everyone who comes along will participate with the upmost respect and humility. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17).
